Sustainable Camping in Blekinge

For nature, for you, and for the future

At Ljuvadal Camping & Upplevelser, we love the nature surrounding Lake Ugglebodasjön and the fresh woodlands that encompass us. We are dedicated to ensuring that our part of Blekinge remains healthy, so that future generations can also enjoy the silence and the winding forest paths. That is why we actively work with sustainability – both in how the campsite is managed and in how we invite you, as our guest, to help care for this place we all enjoy.

How we work with sustainability

We believe in concrete actions over grand words. Here are some of the ways we work to reduce our environmental footprint and strengthen our local surroundings:

  • Promoting Biodiversity: The forest around Ljuvadal is buzzing with life. To help our smallest neighbors, we build "bee hotels" and birdhouses using scrap material from local sawmills. In our meadows, grass and flowers are allowed to go to seed, and in our "mulm" boxes and fauna depots, wood-living insects find a sanctuary. Read more about our Nature-supporting work at Ljuvadal..

  • Circular Thinking and Upcycling: Instead of buying new, we see the value in what already exists. For example, a worn-out kitchen cabinet door and a few planks have been transformed into a book-exchange library. Much of our interior was already here when we took over, or has been gifted to us along the way. To us, reducing consumption and giving things a second chance is second nature.

  • Local Care: We are a proud part of Blekinge and choose local partners whenever possible. This reduces transport emissions and keeps the countryside alive. In our "Glassbod" (Ice Cream Shop), you will always find local treats like raspberry soda from Sibbesson’s farm shop and apple cider from Röda Äppelboden.

  • Mindful Water Usage: With water-saving nozzles on taps and showers, we keep consumption down. We also encourage our guests to be mindful of our high-quality drinking water from our own well – a luxury we want to last for a long time.

  • Nature-Based Experiences: We offer experiences such as hiking on the Braxaleden trail, rowing on the lake, an outdoor gym, and "forest bathing" where you can experience the tranquility of nature – with zero extra emissions.

  • Well-being for Humans and Dogs: We believe in movement that is good for the soul. Through our nature-based exercises along Braxaleden and our "Hundrunda" (The Dog Loop) we want to inspire you to find presence and recharge with energy from the forest.

How you as a guest can contribute

When you camp with us, you are part of the team for a more sustainable stay. Here are a few simple ways you can make a difference:

  • Pause and Stay Longer: Our best tip for the environment (and your own recovery) is to stay an extra night instead of driving every day. You save on fuel and reduce your impact, while getting the time to truly settle into the peace and quiet.

  • Save the Precious Drops: We have our own water here at Ljuvadal. It is clean and delicious, but it is not an infinite resource. We truly appreciate it when you shower efficiently and don’t let the tap run unnecessarily.

  • Sort with Heart: We want as little as possible to go to waste. We provide clear waste sorting for glass, paper, plastic, metal, food waste, and deposits (pant). By placing the right item in the right bin, we ensure materials can be recycled.

  • Respect the Peace and Nature: The "Right of Public Access" (Allemansrätten) is a fantastic privilege. We help keep the forest clean by never leaving litter behind and by showing respect to both wildlife and other guests.

  • Explore on Foot or by Bike: Take the chance to discover the surroundings without a car and feel the rhythm of the forest up close.

  • Visit our Book Exchange: Leave a book you’ve finished and pick up a new one – a simple act that saves resources and spreads the joy of reading in many languages.

Do you have more ideas?

Even though we are now a certified campsite, sustainability is not a destination but a constant journey. We learn new things every day and look forward to continuing to develop Ljuvadal together with our guests.

If you have suggestions on how we can become even better, please feel free to share them with us.

A warm welcome to a sustainable stay in the green!
